Enjoy the thrills of Newcastleton
Whether you’re planning a peaceful picnic with lovely views, a wilderness ramble or an adrenalin-rush mountain bike ride, Newcastleton Forest offers the perfect setting. The forest is also a wildlife haven: don’t miss the hide overlooking Priesthill and the stunning Liddel valley. There are traces of ages past here too - look out for ancient settlements and burial cairns as you go. http://scotland.forestry.gov.uk/visit/newcastleton

Newcastleton on Undiscovered
Newcastleton is the largest settlement in Liddesdale, the valley lying to the east of the line of the modern A7 and even closer to the line of the English border. For many centuries Liddesdale lay on the front line in the wars between England and Scotland, as illustrated in the troubled history of Hermitage Castle, five miles to the north. And even after the Union of the Crowns in 1603 this was bandit country, plagued by cattle rustlers and Border Reivers. http://www.undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/newcastleton/newcastleton/

Newcastleton Music Festival
Newcastleton Traditional Music Festival was first held in 1970, and grew out of the local Accordion and Fiddle Club that met in the Commercial Hotel (now the Liddesdale Hotel). From that initial one day event has grown the friendliest, most welcoming and family friendly traditional music festival in Scotland! http://www.newcastleton.com/
